- Be punctual – not just on time, but early. It will show your future boss how conscientious and organised you are.
- Do your research on the company – you need to know the company like the back of your hand. Their website will hold a lot of information on their history and values. Also know why you want the job as they might ask you why you are applying…
- Don’t forget about nonverbal communication, the first 5 minutes counts for everything! Don’t cross your arms, look at your feet or lean back in your chair. Be open, engaging and enthusiastic. Dress smart and clean and remember that firm handshake and smile.
- Be polite with everyone – yes that’s everyone you meet! They may be asked their opinion of you after the interview.
- Be prepared for your interview – take along your CV, covering letter and job references, and have questions ready to ask, the employer will be impressed with your good organisational skills and knowledge.
